  • Can I DJ using only rekordbox for iOS?

    From rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4), DJ play is enabled by rotating the mobile device sideways in addition to music management.

    Additionally, DJ play is enabled by connecting the supported DJ controller.

    You can also download the tracks to CDJ/XDJ by connecting mobile device to CDJ/XDJ with PRO DJ LINK as always.

  • Why do I have to log in?

    We ask you to log in with your AlphaTheta account in order to do the following features.

    • Play DJ with DJ controller (e.g. DDJ-FLX2, DDJ-GRV6, DDJ-FLX4)
    • Synchronize your library with Cloud Library Sync
      Seamless track management between multiple devices is possible using the cloud.
      Note: Free and Core plans are limited to 20 tracks.
    • Synchronize your library with rekordbox for Mac/Windows
      You can sync your library with a PC/Mac connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
    • rekordbox CloudDirectPlay
      You can DJ on compatible DJ equipment using tracks synced on Cloud Library Sync.
      You can use the tracks of each streaming service by logging in to TIDAL and Apple Music.

    In addition, logging in allow us to collect feedback and information to improve our products.

  • I’m DJing on equipment that’s connected via Wi-Fi to rekordbox for iOS. Can I make/receive phone calls or use other applications on my mobile device at the same time?

    If you make/receive a phone call or use another application while DJing using rekordbox for iOS, rekordbox for iOS will continue running in the background. However, applications running in the background may stop or pause depending on iOS control. If this happens, you'll need to reconnect rekordbox for iOS.

  • Can I use a library from an earlier version of rekordbox for iOS with rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4)?

    Libraries from earlier versions of rekordbox for iOS can't be used with rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4). If you're using a PC/Mac, you can convert the library from a version of rekordbox for Mac/Windows earlier than ver. 6 to use with rekordbox for Mac/Windows (ver. 6). Then you can sync it with rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4).

  • When I connect to a CDJ/XDJ/DJM via a wired connection and tap [Connect to CDJ/XDJ/DJM], the message “Turn Wi-Fi ON and connect to the Wi-Fi router connected to CDJ/XDJ/DJM via LAN cable.” appears. What does this mean?

    It takes about 20 seconds to start communication after connecting the CDJ/XDJ/DJM to your mobile device via a wired connection.
    Wait a while after connecting, then tap [Connect to CDJ/XDJ/DJM].

  • Can I use iTunes/Apple Music app playlists in rekordbox for iOS?

    You can't directly browse iTunes/Apple Music app playlists in rekordbox for iOS, but you can use them via rekordbox for Mac/Windows in the following way:

    1. Right-click the playlist displayed in the [iTunes] category in rekordbox for Mac/Windows and click [Import Playlist].
    -> The playlist is copied to the [Playlists] category. (Please note that copied playlists are not synced when you change your iTunes/Apple Music app playlists.)
    2. Connect rekordbox for Mac/Windows and rekordbox for iOS to the same Wi-Fi network.
    3. In rekordbox for iOS, tap [Connect to rekordbox (Mac/Win)].
    4. In rekordbox for Mac/Windows, click [SEARCH MOBILE].
    -> The playlist copied in step 1 will be synced to rekordbox for iOS.
    5. Right-click the track you want to use in rekordbox for Mac/Windows and click [Mobile Library Sync] > [Transfer to the mobile device].
    -> The track will be transferred.

  • Nothing happens when I connect rekordbox for iOS (ver. 4) to the USB terminal of a CDJ/XDJ/DJM.

    In rekordbox for iOS (ver. 3 or later), the process for making a wired connection has changed from the previous method of connecting from a USB Type-A terminal to a USB Type-B or Type-C terminal.

    Traditional connection methods limit file transfer speed, and file formats such as WAV/AIFF and FLAC/ALAC can’t be used.
    With rekordbox for iOS (ver. 3 or later), we've changed the wired connection method to allow these file formats, and to improve stability.

  • I’ve connected my mobile device and DJ equipment to the same Wi-Fi network, but even if I tap [Connect to CDJ/XDJ/DJM] in rekordbox for iOS, it won’t connect to the DJ equipment.

    Communication between devices may be blocked by network security.
    Wi-Fi router security settings may block communication between devices. Please check the settings of your Wi-Fi router.
    If you're using a VPN connection, please turn off the VPN connection.
    A firewall blocking the communication can be one of other possible reasons.

    Supported options:

    • WAV 44.1kHz
    • WAV 48kHz
    • AAC 64kbps
    • AAC 128kbps
    • AAC 192kbps

    Without an in-app subscription: AAC 64kbps only.
    Subscribers have access to all supported audio formats.
    The audio format is not changed automatically, so please make sure to set the preferred format before recording.
    You can change the audio format from [Settings] > [Recording] > [Sound Quality].

    *When using WAV format, the maximum recording time per session is approximately 6 hours.

    *When using AAC format, the recording time is unlimited.

    The recording feature allows you to save your DJ performance on rekordbox for iOS/Android as recordings in WAV or AAC format.

    This feature can also be used while connected to a supported DJ controller.

    This pop-up is displayed if it was properly sent from rekordbox for iOS/Android to the server.

    If you can't log in to DJ equipment even if this pop-up is displayed, communication between DJ equipment and the server may not have processed properly.

    Check the DJ equipment Internet connection, adjust the Internet environment, and try again.

    • Check that the DJ equipment support NFC touch login.

    Internet settings

    • Check that both mobile device and compatible DJ equipment are connected to the Internet.

    Mobile device settings

    • Check that the latest version of rekordbox for iOS/Android is installed.
    • For Android devices, check the device settings to confirm that the smartphone NFC function is ON.
    • Hold the NFC mark (NFC tag) of the mobile device over the NFC login touch area of the DJ equipment for several seconds. If there is no response, slowly move it in all directions.
    • If the mobile device is in a case, remove it from the case.
    • The transmission sensitivity of the NFC function varies by mobile device. If the connection isn't established smoothly, turn off the Android device NFC function and turn it back ON again before holding it over the compatible DJ equipment.

    Compatible DJ equipment settings

    • Check whether the NFC login indicator of compatible DJ equipment is on or flashing. If it is off, you cannot log in to rekordbox CloudDirectPlay.

    • A TIDAL contract (DJ Extension plan)

  • What audio format can be played on rekordbox for iOS/Android?

    The same as rekordbox for Mac/Windows.

    However, rekordbox for iOS/Android has the following limitations.

    • Video files can't be played. However, if the extension is [.mp4], the video file may be playable.
    • AAC, ALAC, AIFF, and FLAC tracks may not be displayed on the import screen depending on the Android device.

  • I can’t play tracks that I’ve uploaded to Google Drive on CloudDirectPlay. How come?

    If you are using Google Drive, you must log in to Google Drive with both rekordbox for iOS/Android and rekordbox for Mac/Windows.

    This is due to system specifications.

    If you do not own a PC or Mac, you can smoothly use CloudDirectPlay by using Dropbox instead.

    This error may be displayed when the login operation takes too long while the login screen is displayed on rekordbox for iOS/Android after the mobile device is held over the DJ equipment.

    As shown in the error display, hold the mobile device over the DJ equipment again.

    8. To use tracks on rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, upload tracks to the cloud storage using rekordbox for iOS/Android.
      *If you only want to use tracks from the streaming service, this task is not required.

    Login

    1. Check that the NFC login indicator of your DJ equipment is illuminated (illuminated or flashing)
    2. Log in simply by holding your mobile device over the NFC login touch area of your DJ equipment.

  • How do I connect to DDJ-GRV6?

    1. Connect a USB power supply adapter or mobile battery to the USB port (for power supply) on DDJ-GRV6.
    2. Connect the mobile device to the USB port (for device connection) of DDJ-GRV6 using a USB cable.
      If power can be supplied from your mobile device, Step 1 can be skipped.
    3. Connect external speakers to the MASTER output terminal of DDJ-GRV6.
      *If you are using an iPhone or iPad, you can enjoy DJ playing easily with low latency using the following method, even without external speakers.

    Additionally, the following operations on the DJ controller will be restricted:

      • Previews (cue) cannot be listened through headphones.
      • Audio output cannot be adjusted by turning the MASTER LEVEL knob.
      • Audio from a microphone connected to the DJ controller will not be output from the mobile device.
    • When using the unit with a USB power adapter or mobile battery connected to the USB port (for power supply), make sure it has a maximum voltage of 24V or less and DC 9V 3A.
    • Use a USB cable certified to the appropriate standard.
    • Use a mobile battery without a power-saving function.

  • How do I connect to DDJ-FLX4?

    You can connect to DDJ-FLX4 using a USB cable or Bluetooth.

    • The music file has not been uploaded to cloud storage (Dropbox or Google Drive)
      Only music files that you have uploaded to cloud storage will be displayed on the Browse screen.
      If the upload is not complete, the music file cannot be loaded.
      Upload the music files you want to use to cloud storage beforehand, then use them once the upload is complete.
      You can upload with rekordbox.
    • Impact of cloud storage maintenance or failure
      When cloud storage is undergoing maintenance or experiencing problems, music files cannot be loaded.Try again when the cloud storage is back online.

    This allows Master audio to be output from your mobile device's speaker.
    However, Master audio will not be output from the DJ controller.

    • Previews (cue) cannot be listened through headphones.

    • Free or Core plan

    • There are no tracks in Dropbox
