  • Can I use my subscription license without an internet connection?

    To start subscription, you need to activate Plus Pack by entering the subscription license key.

    To activate Plus Pack, your computer must be connected to the internet.

    In addition, an internet connection is needed for the renewal of license information.

    In other cases, you can use Plus Pack without an internet connection.

  • Is the bundled license key that previously came with selected products only useable for rekordbox ver. 5?

    That's right. You can't activate rekordbox ver. 6 with a ver. 5 license key.

    You'll need to take out a paid subscription plan to control ver. 6 PERFORMANCE mode via DJ equipment, unless you have a Hardware Unlock device.

    Hardware Unlock devices can control PERFORMANCE mode even if you use the Free plan.

  • What is Internal/External Mixer Mode?

    Within the preferences, ([Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode]), there are two different modes available.

    Internal: DJ Mix mode using the software mixer function.

    External: DJ Mix mode using an external hardware mixer/controller.

  • I can’t use rekordbox lyric.

    The rekordbox for Mac/Windows Lyric function will close on November 30, 2024.

    Payment after rekordbox Lyric closes

    • Lyric plan: You will be charged up until December 2024 (payment for November). Cancels automatically in December.
    • Premium plan: Will not be canceled automatically. The plan includes functions equal to the Basic plan. Therefore, you will be charged the same price as the Basic plan from December 2024 (payment for November).

  • How many computers can be activated with one license?

    You can activate Plus Pack in up to two computers with one license.

    If you deactivate Plus Pack you once activated, then you can activate it in other computers.

    Note:  The same Pioneer DJ account is required for the two computers if you activate Plus Pack with one license.

  • I recently bought a new computer, so I would like to transfer my rekordbox library from my old computer over to the new one. Is this possible?

    You can transfer your library over to a new computer if you first backup the [Library] in the file menu and then restore the file on the new computer.

    Not only can you backup your Collection and Playlists but also set Cues, waveforms, and information on beats and tempos.

  • What is subscription?

    You can use Plus Pack by paying a monthly fee. *

    • rekordbox dvs is also available on rekordbox 4.1.0 or later.
    • rekordbox video is also available on rekordbox 4.2.0 or later.
    • RMX EFFECTS is also available on rekordbox 4.2.1 or later.
    • rekordbox lyric is also available on rekordbox 5.1.0 or later.

    *Subscription agreement will be automatically renewed for another period of one month ("Expiration date of automatically renewed agreements"), unless particular cancellation in writing is made by customers. In the case of AlphaTheta confirming the cancellation during the subscription terms, the agreement will end at the expiration date of such terms.

  • Can I control lighting from a controller?

    Yes.

    On the PAD EDITOR screen or MIDI assignment screen, you can assign functions such as color changes and strobe flashing patterns to the performance pads and control them from your DJ controller.

  • I cannot activate my license. “The license key you entered has already been activated on other computers.” appears when I try to activate it.

    You can activate a license key in up to two computers at the same time.

    To activate it on a third computer, you need to deactivate it on one computer you already activated it.

  • Can I synchronize my iTunes playlist to the device?

    Yes, you can. To do so, select the Playlist in iTunes that you wish to synchronize in the Sync Manager and then synchronize the Playlist to rekordbox.

    If you then connect a device, you can choose to synchronize the synchronized Playlist to the connected device by selecting the Playlist.

  • How can I cancel my subscription?

    For rekordbox ver. 5 subscription licenses:

    Log in to rekordbox.com and select [My page] > [Licences].

    Click the [Cancel] button located by the license key of the activated subscription to unsubscribe.

  • How do I use the lighting function?

    Follow the steps below for using the lighting function.

    1. Select LIGHTING mode and assign fixtures.
    2. Analyze phrase of the tracks.
    3. Play the phrase-analyzed tracks in PERFORMANCE mode.

  • My iTunes Library does not display.

    To display your iTunes library on rekordbox, first double-click [iTunes] in the Tree view to open the groups, then select [All Audio]. For an iTunes playlist, open [Playlists] and select the playlist with which to display the library.

    *Tracks are not displayed when only [iTunes] is selected.

     

    The settings will vary depending on the computer being used.

    • For Mac

    In the latest version of  rekordbox, no settings are required.

    • For Windows

    The iTunes Library may not be always created when using iTunes12.2 and later.

    From iTunes, Preferences > Advanced, tick the box of “Share iTunes Library XML with other applications” to enable this function.

    Then, please reboot both iTunes and rekordbox after shutting them down.

    If the playlist folders are not properly shown, please update rekordbox to Ver. 3.2.2 or later to solve the issue.

    The iTunes Library file may not be specified properly. To designate the proper iTunes Library xml file, go to [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Database] and select the xml file for the iTunes Library.

    With rekordbox settings files transferred from a different computer, the iTunes Library file may be changed from iTunesMusicLibrary.xml to iTunesLibrary.xml.

    If this is the case with your file, change the above setting to iTunesLibrary.xml.

  • I don’t know how to deactivate a license key.

    Open [Preferences] > [License] and click [Deactivate] for each Plus Pack license to deactivate the Plus Pack license.

    When you deactivate rekordbox dj, you will deactivate all the licenses.

  • What is the [Set a good match combination of tracks.] button used for in 2 Player mode?

    If you register combination of tracks with a good match, you can use this button to display a list of recommended songs to play next based on information about the registered combination match.

  • Can I use a subscription license and a purchased license at the same time?

    No. The subscription license and the purchased license can not be used at the same time.

    Only the following combination is available: rekordbox dj (purchased license) and Lyric Plan.

  • I cannot hear the sound.

    Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] to check whether your audio device is selected.

    In the PERFORMANCE mode, check the following settings.

    • [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode]
    • [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Output channels]

    The [Mood] is a classification of music based on audio information including tempo, rhythm, kick drum and sound density.

  • I’ve installed rekordbox ver. 6. Can I use rekordbox ver. 5 on the same computer? /Can I use rekordbox ver. 5 and ver. 6 on the same computer?

    You can use rekordbox ver. 5 on the same computer even after installing ver. 6.

    However, you can't run ver. 5 and ver. 6 at the same time.

    The following restrictions also apply.

    • To use selected functions in ver. 5, you'll need the relevant license.

    Please note: If you already have a ver. 5 license (purchased or bundled), you can continue to use ver. 5. As of April 2020, it will no longer be possible to purchase a new ver. 5 license key.

    • To use selected functions in ver. 6, you'll need to take out the relevant subscription plan. When you run rekordbox ver. 6 for the first time and convert your library from the old version, all information such as cues, beatgrid, and playlists will be copied over. After this, the libraries of ver. 5 and ver. 6 do not sync. So, from then on, imported tracks and information such as cue points in one version won't be reflected in the other version.

  • I cannot record audio in PERFORMANCE mode.

    In PERFORMANCE mode, you can record Master Out of rekordbox or input audio from Pioneer DJ products.(When you are to record input audio from equipment other than Pioneer DJ products, use recording function in EXPORT mode.)

    Check the followings

    In case no equipment is connected or equipment other than Pioneer DJ products is connected:

    Check the following two settings.

    Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] and check if a computer built-in speaker is selected.

    Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Mixer Mode] and check if "Internal" is selected.

    In case a Pioneer DJ product is connected:

    Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record]. Check if the channel of the connected Pioneer DJ product is selected correctly.

    If you use DJM, DDJ-SZ, DDJ-RZ, DDJ-RZX, DDJ-REV7 as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] button to open the Setting Utility window. Select the [MIXER OUTPUT] tub and select mixer audio output for each channel.

    • Check if the volume of recording is zero or not.

    Adjust the volume by turning the level knob while checking the level meters.

    • Check if the disk has enough space to save the recorded files.
    • Check if destination of the recorded files is correctly selected.

    Open [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] and check [Location of Files].

  • I cannot use XDJ-RX with rekordbox dj.

    • If you want to use XDJ-RX with rekordbox dj, you need to update the firmware version to 2.10 or later.

  • Where can I find a license key?

    How you confirm the license key differs depending on the method in which it was obtained.

    For Pioneer DJ products that come with a license key at purchase

    The license key is written on a rectangular black card packaged with the instruction manual.

    *The [KEY] written on the back of the product is not the rekordbox dj license key.

    For DDJ-200

    This product does not come with a license key, but PERFORMANCE mode can be used when connected to DDJ-200.

    For license keys purchased online

    The license key is sent to you by email following purchase.

    Click here to check your purchase history and license keys on the Digital River website.

    *When logging in for the first time following purchase, enter the email address you registered with here, and then set your password using the email that arrives later.

  • Can I change the location to save recorded files?

    Yes. Change the [Location of Files] in the Preferences.

    • EXPORT mode

    [Preferences] > [Advanced] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] > [Location of Files]

    • PERFORMANCE mode

    [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Recordings] > [Recordings] > [Location of Files]

    When you changed the location, the location in recordings category in the tree view will be displayed with reference to the new location and the folder you previously saved the recorded files will not be shown. Please relocate such audio files in the previous folder to the newly located folder, etc.

  • In what situations are license keys required?

    Requirement of a license key depends on how the product is used, and which model you are using.

    EXPORT mode

    No license key required.
    In this mode, you can use music management, transfer tracks to your USB device, use PRO DJ LINK, make recordings, and perform other functions.

    PERFORMANCE mode

    A rekordbox dj license key is required(*).
    In this mode, you can perform a DJ mix with rekordbox.
    If you have a product that comes with a rekordbox dj license key, use the accompanying key.
    *A license key is not required when connected to DDJ-200.

    When using additional functions (PlusPack)

    If you are using an additional function such as rekordbox dvs, rekordbox video, RMX EFFCTS, or rekordbox lyric, you have to use a rekordbox dj license key and the relevant license key for that feature.

  • When using PC MASTER OUT, the volume does not change even if you turn the MASTER LEVEL knob on the controller.

    The maximum recording time per a file is 3 hours.

    Recording continues even if it exceeds 3 hours, however the recorded file is automatically saved per 3 hours and recording continues in a new file.

  • Will my settings in rekordbox be cleared away when I cancel my subscription?

    You can use rekordbox in EXPORT mode (export to USB device, PRO DJ LINK, etc.) even after cancelling the subscription.

    You can confirm which license keys are currently activated using the following procedure.

    1. Log in(*) to your account here.
    2. After login is complete, click the customer name that appears in the top right corner of the screen.
    3. Click [Licenses] on the left side of the screen.
    4. The currently activated license keys are displayed.

    If the screen shows the message [No licenses registered], there are no activated license keys on your account, or your license keys have been deactivated on all computers.

    *If you have multiple accounts, try logging in to one of the other accounts to check.

  • Can I import recorded files to iTunes?

    Launch rekordbox and iTunes.

    If you don't have a rekordbox ver. 5 license key, you can't control ver. 5 PERFORMANCE mode. Also, you can't use the DVS/Video/RMX EFFECTS/Lyric features.

    Although you can't use ver. 5, you can control rekordbox ver. 6 PERFORMANCE mode and use the DVS/Video/RMX EFFECTS/Lyric features if you start a subscription plan.

  • Are there any functional restrictions when using tracks from a streaming service on rekordbox?

    The following restrictions apply when using tracks from a streaming service.

    • EXPORT mode

    Tracks cannot be used.

    • PERFORMANCE mode

    The recording function cannot be used. This is due to copyright restrictions set by the streaming services.

    The capture function cannot be used.

    Tracks cannot be loaded to the sampler deck.

    Tracks cannot be added to playlists.

    Track information cannot be edited.

    Tracks are not shown in [Histories].

    Music files are not backed up with the backup function.

    Cannot be exported to a USB storage device or SD memory card.

  • I purchased DDJ- 200. Do I need a rekordbox dj license key?

    A license key is not required when using rekordbox connected to DDJ-200.

    While connected, PERFORMANCE mode can be used without a rekordbox dj license key.

    To use PERFORMANCE mode while not connected to DDJ-200, or together with another product, a rekordbox dj license key is required.

  • Can I change the display format for keys?

    Yes, on rekordbox 5.4.3 or later version you can select [Classic] or [Alphanumeric] in [Preferences] > [View] > [Key display format].

    [Alphanumeric] : 1A,1B,2A,2B,…
    [Display key information on the database] : If this is checked, keys are displayed in the same format as the one rekordbox 5.4.2 or earlier version was displaying.

    In EXPORT mode, only audio input from external equipment can be recorded. (To record of Master Out of rekordbox, please use recording function in PERFORMANCE mode.)

    • Is your computer connected to external equipment via a USB cable?
    • Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Audio] to check external equipment is selected from the menu.
    • Open [Preferences] > [Audio] > [Input channels] > [Input Record] to check external equipment is selected correctly from the menu.

    When using a DJM as external equipment, click the [Setting Utility] to open the Setting Utility window. Select [MIXER OUTPUT] tab and select mixer audio output for each channel.

    • Check if the volume of recording is zero or not?

  • How do I activate the same license key on another computer?

    Use the following procedure to activate your license key on a new computer.

    1. Install rekordbox on the new computer.
    2. Register the same account as on the previous computer.
    3. Activate using the same license key as on the previous computer.

    If you intend to continue using the previous computer, this completes the procedure.

    If you do not intend to continue using the previous device, you must deactivate it using a separate procedure.

    *If you have already activated the license key on 2 computers, deactivate one of them before activating a new one.

    PRO DJ LINK works when rekordbox is in EXPORT mode. (It does not work in PERFORMANCE mode.)

    1. Depending on the security software used on your computer and its operating system settings, it may not be possible to establish a PRO DJ LINK connection. If this occurs, it will be necessary to check your settings for the following four programs to ensure that they are not blocked:
      • rekordbox program file
      • ProDJ Link System Manager
      • ProDJ Link NFS Server
      • edb_streamd

      check "Windows Firewall settings"

    2. PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if your computer is connected to multiple networks as the networks (wired LAN, wireless, etc.) may interfere with each other. If this is the case with your computer, you can resolve the issue by disabling networks not used by PRO DJ LINK or set the network precedence properly to favor the network used.
    3. PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if the Port used by rekordbox for PRO DJ LINK is being used by another application (NSF server, etc.). To resolve this issue, close the application or service being used and then try again.
    4. PRO DJ LINK may fail to run properly if Internet Sharing is enabled. If this is the case, disable Internet Sharing and then try again.
    5. When there is a router connected on the network used by PRO DJ LINK, the network may fail to be established properly depending on the order in which connected devices are powered on. Either first turn on the power to the router and then connect the device, or disconnect the router.

    First, check System Requirements for rekordbox video.

    Then, check the followings:

    • Close other applications than rekordbox.

    The resolution of video will become lower and rekordbox video will work better.

    When you untick this option, the FX1 and FX2 are independently routed to the internal audio routing of rekordbox dj. Therefore you can set the FX1 and FX2 to separate mixer channels. However, FX tails can NOT be heard even after pulling the channel fader of the mixer all the way down.

  • I cannot play back audio tracks from rekordbox on the DJ player via a link connection.

    PRO DJ LINK works when rekordbox is in EXPORT mode.  (It does not work in PERFORMANCE mode.)

    1. If the [UNLOCK/LOCK] option on the DJ Player is set to [LOCK], you will not be able to load tracks to the DJ Player while a song is playing (for the CDJ-2000 only). You will also not be able to drag tracks if you load them at the same exact time as a Cue is being called up on the DJ Player.
    2. Depending on the security software used on your computer and its operating system settings, it may not be possible to establish a PRO DJ LINK connection. If this occurs, it will be necessary to check your settings for the following four programs to ensure that they are not blocked:
      • rekordbox program file
      • ProDJ Link System Manager
      • ProDJ Link NFS Server
      • edb_streamd

      check "Windows Firewall settings"

    3. For Mac OS X, note that music files with long file paths cannot be played back using PRO DJ LINK. Make sure to save music files to a save location with a file path no longer than 256 characters.
    4. Music files transferred from Windows XP to Windows Vista/7/8 and saved to My Music may become unable to be played back using PRO DJ LINK. If this appears to be the case with your files, rename the folder where the music files are saved and then use Relocate to reassign the location once the "Media is Missing" message pops up to reset it.
    5. Note that [Device] song tracks cannot be loaded onto the CDJ using PRO DJ LINK. To play such song tracks, connect the device directly to the DJ Player instead.

    • When a track has been imported from an external device, rekordbox may not find the track if the device’s drive letter (“E:” for example) differs from the drive letter at the time the track was imported. Change the drive letter so it is the same as when the track was imported.
    • With iTunes, if the “Keep iTunes Media folder organized” setting was enabled, when titles or other types of track information is changed in iTunes, iTunes changes the track’s location, file name, etc. To import the same tracks on iTunes and rekordbox, disable the “Keep iTunes Media folder organized” setting.

  • Can I control all lighting fixtures registered in rekordbox Fixture Library from rekordbox?

    Only specific DMX lighting fixture features – such as the dimmer, strobe, color and moving head (PAN/TILT) – can be controlled with [LIGHTING] mode.

    The fixtures, which have other features than the above, may not work as expected.

    Features like GOBO, along with some effect lights, lasers, fog machines and all-in-one lighting systems aren't supported.

  • I’ve signed up for a rekordbox ver. 6 subscription plan, but I can’t activate ver. 5.

    You can't activate rekordbox ver. 5 using a ver. 6 subscription.

    You can activate ver. 5 if you've already subscribed to ver. 5, purchased a license key, or had a license key bundled with a product.

    Please note: As of April 2020 it isn't possible to start a new a ver. 5 subscription or buy a license.
