Major CDJ-3000 firmware update – ver. 2.0 – introduces rekordbox CloudDirectPlay

Play tracks directly from the cloud using the flagship multi player for a smoother, smarter DJ experience

AlphaTheta Corporation has today released the new firmware ver. 2.0 for the CDJ-3000 multi player from its Pioneer DJ brand. This update introduces a new feature, rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, which makes it possible to directly play music stored in the cloud using the CDJ-3000.

Since its release in September 2020, the next-generation CDJ-3000 has become a staple piece of kit for the world’s top DJs, helping them to perform more creatively than ever before. With cloud file storage continually growing in popularity, more and more DJs are looking for ways to manage their music online; the next natural step is to want to play that music directly from the cloud without needing to download it to a computer and export it to a USB storage device.

Now, with rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, DJs can combine the advanced features of the CDJ-3000 with the convenience of having direct access to their cloud-based music.

The rekordbox Creative and Professional plans offer the Cloud Library Sync feature so you can access your latest library from different devices and sync playlists and tracks between them. Now, both these subscription plans support rekordbox CloudDirectPlay, a feature that enables you to browse your entire cloud-based library directly from a CDJ-3000 multi player and play any track live. There’s no need to download and export files; you can use all your meta data, such as Hot Cues and Memory Cues; and you don’t need to worry about storage space on your USB storage device. What’s more, any meta data you edit on the CDJ-3000 – or in the PC/Mac/iOS/Android versions of rekordbox – will be automatically uploaded to the cloud, meaning your music library is always up to date.

Simply connect the CDJ-3000 multi player to the internet via a PRO DJ LINK connection with a LAN cable to start using rekordbox CloudDirectPlay. In advance, you’ll export an authentication key from rekordbox to a USB storage device which, when plugged in to the CDJ-3000, enables you to log in to your latest rekordbox library directly from the player. This means you can play tracks saved in the cloud as well as those exported to the USB storage device. If your USB storage device is lost or damaged, you can disable its authentication from rekordbox and export a new authentication key to a different device so your music library is always secure.

With the option to log in to your latest rekordbox library from the DJ booth and play music directly from the cloud, you can enjoy a smoother and smarter DJ experience than ever before.
