Introducing Studio Plan: Take DJing beyond the booth

Track editing, remixing, and production – a new bridge between DJing and music-making

AlphaTheta announces its new Studio Plan, a subscription service with an easy-to-use digital audio workstation (DAW) that integrates with rekordbox, so DJs can take the next step into track editing, remixing, and music-making.

Many DJs aspire to develop their own style by creating original tracks, editing, and making remixes. But the cost of DAW software and the complexity of music production have traditionally been barriers to getting started.

Studio Plan makes music production accessible to a much wider range of DJs. It includes Bitwig Studio Essentials – an intuitive DAW that makes it easy to sketch, refine, and perform your ideas– and is available through an affordable subscription model. And it features seamless library integration and compatibility of track analysis data between rekordbox and Bitwig Studio Essentials, so you can bring your existing DJ music library directly into your production system. This offers a new creative experience, where your skills can naturally evolve and you can make your own remixes and original tracks to play in your DJ sets.

Working with Bitwig is part of AlphaTheta's ongoing effort to give more creative power to DJs and producers through collaborations with a variety of partners.

* Studio Plan is standalone and independent of the rekordbox subscription plans (Free/Core/Creative/Professional/Cloud Option). It works on its own, but combining it with a rekordbox plan helps you get more out of both.
* Studio Plan will be accessed through Studio License Manager, an application for managing licenses and user accounts.
* Copyright Notice: Recording, playback, and reproduction of copyrighted music are subject to applicable copyright laws and international treaties. Except for personal use, copyrighted content may not be used without permission from the rights holder.

Easy transition to music-making for DJs

Using the included DAW, Bitwig Studio Essentials, it’s easy to start building tracks by arranging audio and MIDI clips, even if you have no music production experience. The DAW comes with 40 instruments and effects, plus 10 modulators for adding movement to your sound, opening up a wide range of creative possibilities. Start by using songs from your DJ library as creative material, then naturally progress from track editing and remixing to creating your own original music.

Track editing and remixing with music from your DJ library

rekordbox and Bitwig Studio Essentials now integrate seamlessly, so you can browse your DJ library in Bitwig Studio and open tracks directly in a Bitwig project. Track information and analysis data, such as BPM and key info, plus Hot Cue and vocal positions are automatically transferred over, making it easy for you to build on the musical knowledge you’ve developed through DJing.

You can rebuild the rhythm parts of a track, for example, by combining loops that match the BPM, or add harmonically compatible phrases using key information to create a natural, polished remix. You can also reconstruct tracks using Hot Cues you’ve created during your DJ sets as creative starting points. Studio Plan offers a production experience that’s uniquely tailored to DJs.

STEMS separation for editing and remixing

Bitwig Studio Essentials’ built-in STEMS functionality allows you to split any track into different parts – vocals, drums, bass, and other musical elements – which you can then use as material for your own productions. For example, you can isolate a vocal section from your favorite song, combine it with new drums and bass, and rebuild the track into a completely fresh remix. Even if you have no production experience, you can take your first steps into music creation by working with songs you already know.

* STEMS support will be added in a future update.

Easy introduction to music-making through a free trial and affordable subscription

Keen to try music production but hesitant to invest in DAW software? Studio Plan offers a 30-day free trial, giving you time to get to grips with the basics and start making your own remixes or original songs. After that, you can take out the affordable subscription plan and keep developing your production skills.

* Even after the 30-day free trial ends, you can keep using the free version of Bitwig Studio (Demo mode) at any time, with certain feature limitations.
